We have launched new wind and solar models using deep neural networks. The new models predict solar and wind production based on weather forecasts from GFS and ICON.
Our new wind model predictions are published for 52 regions. They predict the produced wind power based on forecasts of wind speed, temperature, air pressure and information about the time of the day and year.
Our new solar model predictions are published for 32 regions. They predict the produced solar power based on forecasts of solar radiation, temperature, precipitation, wind speed and information about the time of the day and year.
Access The Forecasts
The model results are included in our intraday package and are available on app.wattsight.com (e.g. here). The figure below shows a comparison of our model results based on ECMWF, GFS and ICON weather data for Germany.
We expect to make the forecasts available on api.wattsight.com in week 7.
The models are updated as soon as new weather forecasts arrive. GFS provides new forecasts every 6 hours (00/06/12/18 UTC) while the ICON models are updated every 3 hours (00/03/06/09/12/15/18/21 UTC).
