Update of Long-Term Power Price Prognoses

On Thursday 5th of March 2020, we will publish the quarterly updates of our long-term price prognoses for the Nordic Countries and Central Europe.


  • Cheap gas taking shares from lignite in the mid term perspective, while industrial outlooks getting further darkened, inducing strong emission reductions
  • Carbon market supply to be further reduced, amid EU lawmakers negotiating the 'Green Deal' 
  • German coal-phaseout plans firming, causing increased gas dependency

The Nordic report applies findings and power price prognoses for Germany, Netherlands and UK as depicted in the Central European report. 

With a thorough focus on policy developments and power balance outlooks, our power price prognoses for Central Europe is obtained by applying detailed hour-by-hour price simulations. This report has increased attention to weather scenarios for power price simulations. 

In this edition of the Nordic Countries long term report, the time horizon of simulations has been expanded with five years, now covering 2020-2045. Also, the price simulations for the Central European long term report have been extended from 2037 till 2040.
